Four years of shipping, operating and fixing production systems.

I am a software engineer based in Palakkad, Kerala, India, working across full-stack development, backend engineering, cloud infrastructure and DevOps.

01Background

I came into software from aeronautical engineering, and stayed because I wanted to understand how things actually worked. I have kept following that instinct further down the stack ever since — from building interfaces, to the services behind them, to the databases those services talk to, and eventually to the servers, containers and pipelines that carry all of it into production.

Since September 2022 I have worked as a software engineer at Amigosia, on marketplace, logistics, fintech and commerce platforms that real users depend on. That has meant designing and building full-stack web and mobile applications with Angular, React, React Native and Node.js; modelling and tuning data in PostgreSQL, MongoDB and SQL Server; putting Redis in front of the paths that needed it; and deploying the result to AWS and Azure through Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines I built and maintain — often working directly with clients in the United States and Qatar.

It has also meant the less photogenic work: tracing a production incident back to its cause at an inconvenient hour, rewriting a query whose plan fell apart once the table grew, configuring Nginx and process managers so a restart does not drop requests, and adding the logging that made the next problem faster to find than the last one.

What I have taken from that is fairly simple. The interesting part of software engineering is rarely getting something to work. It is making something that keeps working — under load, under change, and under whoever inherits it. That belief shapes how I design systems, which technologies I reach for, and how much I am willing to add before asking whether it is really needed.

Outside of feature work I mentor junior developers and interns, and I spend my own time on system design, cloud-native architecture, DevOps automation and, more recently, AI-assisted engineering workflows.

    Building and operating web and mobile products across marketplace, logistics, fintech and commerce domains — from the API and data model through to the containers and pipelines that put them in front of users in the United States and Qatar.

    Responsibilities

    • Design, develop and maintain scalable web and mobile applications with Angular, React Native, Node.js, Express.js, PostgreSQL, MongoDB and .NET.
    • Architect and implement RESTful APIs and backend services supporting marketplace, logistics, fintech and commerce platforms.
    • Build and deploy cloud-native applications on AWS (EC2, ECS, Lambda, S3) and Azure (App Service, Blob Storage).
    • Implement containerised deployments with Docker and Kubernetes, and automate CI/CD workflows.
    • Design and optimise relational and document data models across PostgreSQL, MongoDB and SQL Server.
    • Apply Redis caching to read-heavy and latency-sensitive paths.
    • Define infrastructure as code with Terraform so environments are reproducible and reviewable.
    • Diagnose and resolve production incidents, then close the gap that allowed them.
    • Collaborate directly with clients across the United States and Qatar to scope and deliver software.
    • Work in a ten-person engineering team on an Agile/Scrum cadence.
    • Mentor 11+ software engineering interns on full-stack development, Git workflows, debugging and engineering practice.

04Philosophy

How I think about building things.

Build for production

Getting an application working is the first quarter of the job. The rest is making it maintainable, observable, secure, and dependable at three in the morning when nobody is watching it.

Keep systems simple

Good architecture is rarely about adding another technology. It is about choosing the right few and keeping the whole system small enough that one engineer can hold it in their head.

Automate repetitive work

Anything done by hand more than twice — testing, deployment, provisioning — is a future outage. Automation is less about speed than about removing the places where humans make mistakes.

Think beyond the code

Software engineering includes architecture, infrastructure, deployment, monitoring, performance, security, and the people who will be on call for whatever you ship.

Alongside product work I have mentored software engineering interns, focused on the practical side of the job that courses tend to skip — reading an unfamiliar codebase, debugging methodically, using Git in a team rather than alone, writing a pull request someone else can review, and understanding why a thing behaves differently in production than on a laptop.
